同意曹老师的解答，understanding 当表示变化时，可以用进行体。但有一个地方我的理解略有不同。在the more ... the more 的结构中，也可以如此用，但一般用在主句，不需要于分句，由于主句是强调的重点。说话人的目的是强调这种变化的发生。网友句子就是这种情形。我补充一个例句：The more we travel and see, the more we are understanding that everything we see has been born out of necessity. （源于小说Changing Lives，Chapter 6, 作者：Tricia Tunstall）。假如分句用are understanding的形式，一般使用其他状语从句形式，如：As she is understanding more, she is taking more chances with English.
